Acne is caused when hair follicles or ‘pores’ in the skin become blocked with oil and dead skin, allowing bacteria to grow and cause inflammation. Hormonal changes often contribute to the problem.
The best way to treat acne is to start treatment soon after it appears, to prevent it becoming severe and causing scarring, which is more difficult to treat.
If the acne is mild then simple diet modification combined with a medical grade skin care regime with cleansers and exfoliants may be sufficient. Otherwise Hydrafacial treatments, a series of facial peels, or a China Doll Laser Facial (also known as as ‘Carbon Laser Skin Rejuvenation’ or ‘China Doll Peel’) can be effective by exfoliating the top layers of the skin, removing dead skin cells and emptying blocked pores.
Acne scarring can be improved with lasers, with the Profractional, HALO or DUALMODE resurfacing lasers being the most effective lasers available. This laser targets the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating new collagen production, which lifts and reduces acne scarring.
