Eye Surgery – Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty rejuvenates the eyes, which are our most significant feature, leaving them looking younger and more rested. Blepharoplasty involves the removal of skin folds and fat bulges from the eyelids and is a commonly performed procedure with a very high degree of patient satisfaction and low risk of complications.

The surgery removes excess skin and bulging fat from the eyelids through incisions in natural lines extending into the crows feet at the outer edge of the eye. The scars fade with time, and are usually not noticeable. It is sometimes possible for Dr Cope to remove fine lines on the lower eyelid with the medical grade Fraxel re:store DUAL laser resurfacing and remove fat using an incision on the back of the eyelid, leaving no scars at all.

Depending on what is required eyelid surgery can be performed under local or general anaesthetic as a day surgery procedure or over-night stay in our surgery in Sydney. There is some temporary bruising and swelling, lasting about two weeks, with some patients experiencing temporary blurring or tearing. Most patients return to work in 7-14 days.

Eyelid surgery is often combined with a browlift to lifting sagging eyebrows or a facelift to improve the lower part of the face as well, giving a fantastic result.

If you are not ready for surgery then some improvement of the eyelid area can be obtained from Thermage skin tightening, with no downtime.
