As many as 50% of women and 20% of men have concerns with unsightly veins. Many leg veins can be treated with sclerotherapy, which is the injection of a special solution into the unwanted leg veins. Using a micro injection technique, the solution irritates the vessels, causing adhesion of the lining and preventing regular blood flow. Over the following weeks the vessels shrink and gradually fade from view.
Following treatment clients are instructed to avoid standing for long periods and to walk for thirty minutes immediately after the injection, and to walk for at least an hour every day for two weeks. Walking is important to encourage blood flow through other healthy vessels.
Treated veins can sometimes reappear but usually it is a new vein appearing near the treated area. *Most clients will need more than one treatment and this is usually performed after a break of one or two months.
