Vectra 3D Imaging
Dr Charles Cope is the only surgeon in Sydney with the exciting VECTRA XT 3D imaging system, which is the latest 3D technology that allows you to see the expected result during your consultation.
The VECTRA takes a 3D image of your breasts then allows you to see what your breasts would look like with different size implants, helping you to make a more informed decision about your implant size. You can see what your breasts will look like before you even have the surgery!

Best wishes to all my breast reconstruction patients celebrating the first Australia BRA Day on 26th Nov.
BRA Day was started in Canada in 2011 and has spread to the US and now Australia, and aims at highlighting the low rate of breast reconstruction among Australian women, and promoting awareness of breast reconstruction options following mastectomy.
Earlier this year Angelina Jolie had breast breast reconstruction after choosing to have a bilateral mastectomy as a preventative measure when doctors told her she carried the BRCA1 gene making it highly likely she would develop breast cancer.
However, Angelina Jolie is in the surprising minority of women who undergo a reconstruction following mastectomy despite research showing there can be physical and psychological benefits such as improved self-esteem, confidence and lower levels of anxiety.
In Australia, around 5,000 women have a mastectomy each year, but only about 10% have a reconstruction. This compares with 42% of women in the United States.
For more information on breast reconstruction options see our breast reconstruction pages for more information — at Dr Charles Cope.
In a recent article (Oct 2013) of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Journal (Plast. Reconstr. Surg. 132: 810, 2013.), the main Plastic Surgery Journal worldwide, the 3D imaging VECTRA machine was found to be beneficial for patients considering breast augmentation surgery.
The article concluded that patients prefer a center that offers three-dimensional imaging technology; they feel that the simulation is very accurate and helps them greatly in choosing the implant; and that if they could go back in time, they would choose the same implant again.
See more information on the Vectra, or see some examples of how reliable the Vectra can be for predicting the postoperative result of breast augmentation here.
Dr Cope features in the article “bosom BUDDIES’, the experts’ guide to breast augmentation in the Cosmetic Enhancement & anti-ageing guide supplement to the Australia Vogue Feb 2014.
Recent advances in three dimensional (3D) photography combined with revolutionary new software allows prospective patients to accurately preview what they will look like as the result of breast augmentation and breast lifts, body contouring, facial procedures such as rhinoplasty, chin augmentations and more, well in advance of any surgery.

Media release – 3rd June 2016. New Cosmetic Surgery Laws introduced to protect patients.
New laws introduced by the NSW Health Minister, Jillian Skinner, that will mean cosmetic procedures such as breast augmentation, abdomnioplasties, and high volume liposuction can only be conducted in licensed premises subject to the same standards as private hospitals, and means higher safety for patients.
